Event Description: FLEX # 550
Our community has suffered multiple traumas in the past two years. Many faculty and staff members have lost their homes, their jobs, and some have lost family members and friends during the COVID Pandemic. Nothing is normal. Everything is unprecedented. Forest fires reignited Camp Fire trauma, and Black people and BIPOC students and staff are triggered by the continued killings of unarmed black men and women. The racial reckoning in this country seems far from satisfactory. And yet humans have the ability to move trauma and stress through their bodies. We can heal ourselves. This workshop will give you some tools and ideas of how to deal with the stress in your body, based on ideas from the books, "My Grandmother's Hands", Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending our Hearts and Bodies, by Resmaa Menakem, and "Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle" by Emily Nagoski and Amelia Nagoski. |
