10:00 AM - 10:50 AM HyFlex Model: Who is It Good For?
FLEX # 416
The HyFlex model is the new buzz word. HyFlex are courses delivered both in person and online at the same time by the same faculty member. Instructors design a learning experience where students choose, each session, whether to show up for class or to join it online. The underlying design ethos behind the HyFlex Model is flexibility and student choice. Is this a viable model? We will discuss the model, unpack the pros and cons, including labor issues for associate faculty and success/retention rates for students, and explore pilot projects that include data collection.

The Rising Scholars program is part of the CCCCO Rising Scholars Network, a statewide group committed to serving students who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. Many such students are enrolled at Butte College; in fact, they are probably taking your classes. The Rising Scholars Network has adopted a set of Guiding Principles for serving formerly incarcerated students on campus. We have been awarded another three years of grant funding because we have implemented many of these principles, and we hope to achieve even more as we strive to reach more students. Join the Rising Scholars team and Butte College and Chico State honors graduate Benito Gutierrez to learn how you can become an ally of Rising Scholars students at Butte College.
