Diego James Navarro, Professor Emeritus at Cabrillo College and the founder of the Academy for College Excellence (ACE), helps colleges implementing Guided Pathways to adopt proven strategies that instill cultures of dignity and belonging inside an outside the classroom. The approach utilizes evidence-based solutions by providing evidence-based professional development workshops using affective strategies. Diego is providing a number of professional development opportunities at Butte as part of Light to Inspire. Light to Inspire professional development opportunities are a partnership between CASA and Dash to Success, reflecting a prioritization of fostering an equitable and compassionate environment at Butte College. Diego’s evidence based approach to professional development results in creating a campus culture where students feel they belong and experience psychological safety. The primary goal of Light to Inspire is to support the establishment of an equity minded culture of dignity through experiential affective-based professional development.
