9:00 AM - 10:00 AM Book in Common: How to Be an Antiracist
FLEX # 147
9-9:50am. Ibram X. Kendi's concept of antiracism reenergizes and reshapes the conversation about racial justice in America--but even more fundamentally, points us toward liberating new ways of thinking about ourselves and each other. Instead of working with the policies and system we have in place, Kendi asks us to think about what an antiracist society might look like, and how we can play an active role in building it.
9:00 AM - 10:30 AM Polling Classroom Responses with Poll Everywhere
FLEX # 455
9-10:20am.  Ever wonder if you are getting through to your students in the moment? Classroom Response Systems (CRS) allow you to pose questions to your students on the fly that they can answer with their mobile devices using wifi or text. Responses can be shown immediately and used to inform on the fly pedagogical decisions. Come join Michelle Kelley and Mike Matiasek from the Academic Technology Committee who will introduce to you the basics of CRS’s and how to use Poll Everywhere, a CRS platform that has a free option. Bring a fully charged laptop and a couple of questions that you want to use to create a poll for your classes. Some laptops available for those who do not have one.
