9:30 AM - 10:20 AM Excel 2: Intermediate Functions

Participants should have a basic understanding of Excel and spreadsheet architecture before taking this course.  Take your excel knowledge beyond basic record keeping, manual filtering and repeatedly copying and pasting with some of Excel's most adaptable and foundational functions. During the course of an hour we will explore the syntax and application of the following functions: IF(); COUNTIFS(); SUMIFS(); VLOOOKUP(); XLOOKUP(); and IFERROR().  Discussions will also introduce the concept of dynamic ranges as a strategy for amplified efficiency and making the most out of your new found excel skills.  Participants will leave with an enhanced understanding of Excel's capabilities and be armed with new strategies to grow their effective use of one of the world's most widely used data analytics tool kits.

The annual Classified Professionals’ Day is a full day of off-campus workshops, skill building, learning, and networking exclusively for Classified Staff. It is hosted by the Classified Senate and made possible by all of YOU! While we enjoy lunch, we will review this year’s general outline and programming themes. Bring your ideas for fun and games, workshops, activities and frankly anything that is likely to engage your fellow classified as we brainstorm and game plan for the biggest classified focused event of the year.

This workshop briefly examines some commonly used terms and concepts in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) learning while contextualizing the impact of implicit bias, privilege, and systemic racism in customer service. The objective of this session is to increase both the individual and collective understanding and importance of equity-mindedness as a general practice. During this session, participants are invited to engage in conversation and interrogate their social constructs and biases in furtherance of providing excellent student support and customer service. 

Facilitator, Dr. Brian Bedford 
A collaborative business leader with 25 years of experience demonstrating equity-minded leadership in Fortune 500 corporations, higher education, as well as non-profit organizations. His dynamic interactive personal style is regularly acknowledged by his colleagues for effectively communicating and engaging stakeholders while delivering intersectional solutions to multifaceted challenges. Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Race Relations and Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, a Juris Doctorate from Lincoln Law School, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of the Pacific.

4:00 PM - 4:50 PM Surviving Critical Incidents

How should you react during a critical incident? What actions can you take to ensure your survival and the survival of those around you? We will teach these skills through video and discussion. We will also cover existing emergency procedures such as lockdown and evacuation. It will end with an open question and answer session with members of your Police Department.
