9:00 AM - 5:00 PM CCC Digital Learning Day
FLEX # 406.15 - 406.20
As digital tools continue to open new opportunities for student engagement and interactions, the nature of literacy is evolving. In the digital era, literacy is no longer contained to reading and writing and can no longer be fostered exclusively through the ability to search for and find credible information. In this era of knowledge abundance, new digital literacies are required. These include, but are not limited to, analyzing and vetting the credibility of a constant barrage of digital information, deciphering complex visual content, using digital technologies, creating and adapting digital content within copyright permissions, and mindfully cultivating one’s own digital presence. As educators, we must simultaneously foster our own digital literacies and strive to design learning experiences that cultivate our student’s literacies, as well. Join us on Thursday, February 28th for a day of exploration and learning. The CCC Digital Learning Day program is designed to spark your imagination, improve your digital literacy, and identify effective pedagogical applications of emerging digital tools.
9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Evan Hobart Gallery Show

Evan Hobart

Mixed Media Works

The Butte College Art Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition by Mendocino County artist, Evan Hobart. The exhibition will be on display from January 28 – February 28, 2019, in the Butte College Art Gallery. A closing reception will take place on Thursday, January 28, 2019, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Food and refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.

Evan Hobart is a mixed media artist who primarily works in ceramic and flame-work glass while combining a variety of other materials into his sculptures. His inspiration comes from both nature and culture. He researches then conceptualizes topics such as ecology, archeology and paleontology in his complex and intriguing works. Evan’s sculptures and large-scale drawings  exhibit an unusual combination of powerful imagery and delicate craftsmanship.

Evan describes his works as, “……. a platform to discuss the past, present and future, utilizing the intersection of humanity and nature to comment on modern day life. My work examines today’s world and elaborates on many of its facets such as global climate change, politics, war, religion, society, overdevelopment and possibly the eventual extinction. Unpleasant as it is to confront some of these issues, it is the work (obligation) of the artist and teacher, now and in the past, to do so - in a creative and thought-provoking way.”

Please join us in celebrating Evan Hobart and his collection of mixed media sculptures and drawings.
