10:00 AM - 11:30 AM | Queer Week: National Coming out Day Sharing Circle In Person In person gathering: This is a time for Queer the Butte Queer community to gather and talk about our experiences regarding coming out and all that entails. Everyone will get a chance to share their stories if they wish and to be supported by the rest of the group in sharing their experience(s). | |
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM | Queer Week: Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, the Red Dress Movement, and our Two-Spirit Community
Please join us from 12-1 p.m. on Monday, October 11th via Zoom for a presentation from Chico State’s Tribal Relations Office’s Amber Noel-Camacho and Liliana Vargas about the history and treatment of Native American women, the disproportionate rates of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, and to learn about our Two-Spirit community. 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM | Latinx Heritage Month: Ariana Brown Ariana Brown is a queer Black Mexican American poet from San Antonio, TX. She is the author of We Are Owed. (Grieveland, 2021) and Sana Sana (Game Over Books, 2020) and a 2014 national collegiate poetry slam champion. Ariana’s work investigates queer Black personhood in Mexican American spaces, Black relationality and girlhood, loneliness, and care.
