2:00 PM - 4:00 PM Artist Reception: Constellating Narratives - Cynthia Brannvall
FLEX # 34.xx
Cynthia Branvall is an artist and art historian visiting from Foothill College. She weaves together an investigative curiosity and familiarity with the archives into an art practice that defies the limitations of a singular medium.  Brannvall was a Foothill College student, before receiving two Bachelors degrees (Practice of Art and History of Art) from University of California, Berkeley. Her MA was earned at CSU, San Francisco.  Amidst a busy teaching schedule of Art History courses, Brannvall is prolific, making new series and exhibiting throughout the state.  Notable residencies and awards include the Cubberley Artist Studio Program which is a 4 year artist studio residency and the Artistic Achievement Award, “Art of the African Diaspora” Richmond Art Center. She has also been featured in a solo exhibition at MoAD (Museum of African Diaspora) in San Francisco.  "I hope my artwork creates a soft landing and a place where we can meet and engage with the complexities of identity, different perspectives and the contradictions that are American identity and experience." -Cynthia Brannvall.  Her haunting and varied series explore race, history, family, gender, sexuality, industry, landscape, and spirituality. They are correlating constellations in her personal universe, that will draw you into their orbit.
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Peer Evaluator Training
FLEX # 300
Evaluation training is mandated by faculty contract once a full-time faculty member reaches tenure. The training session must take place before a newly-tenured instructor serves on an evaluation team for a colleague, and the workshop also serves as a good review of the evaluation process for any instructor or administrator.
