Event Description: The Butte College Native American Club invites our campus community to stand with Indigenous Peoples by participating in Orange Shirt Day on Thursday, September 30th. Orange Shirt Day is an important event that acknowledges Indigenous peoples persevering over colonialism, racism, and cultural genocide. Wearing an orange shirt signifies a recognition of the emotional, mental, and physical trauma that First Nations endured during the residential/boarding school era. It represents Indigenous peoples acknowledging their history, but in a way that allows participation, peace, and solidarity among Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
