Event Description: Glassblowing is a glass forming technique which was invented
by the Syrian craftsman in the 1st century BCE. Glass exists as
sand-like powder, a dripping, molten taffy, and hard/sharp if
shattered. The ability to be many different things can be a
strength, and such is true for many working artists as well.
David Smallhouse, a former Vietnam veteran, led a full career
as a glass artist for over 3 decades. His interests in color, form,
tradition, function, nature, and abstraction are illustrated in this
selection from his personal collection. |
