All Day Run for Student Government by March 29

The Butte College Student Government (A.S.) is now accepting Student Government applications for the 23/24 academic year!   Applications due March 29.

Student Government members represent the student voice regarding important matters that affect their experience at Butte College. They participate on campus committees and help fund campus projects, student initiatives, clubs, campus events and more!

Join the Butte College Student Government! 

·         Students earn an honorarium ($450 to $1,350)  

·         Students receive a staff parking pass each semester 

·         Students help make real change at Butte College 

·         Students will get to learn alongside an amazing group of fellow students 

·         Students will get to go to statewide leadership and advocacy conferences 

·         Students will be trained in effective leadership, equity & inclusion, advocacy methods, how to run meetings, group dynamic theories, campus policies, and much more! 

 

No Prior Experience Required 

In fact, most students come to the A.S. team with little to no previous leadership experience.  Our team will provide them with on-going training to help them understand their position, explain how our campus processes work, and help them reach their potential!

All Day Transfer Opportunity Program (TOP)
The Transfer Opportunity Program (TOP) coordinator from UC Davis, Sarah Fales, will be offering online advising appointments for students with any questions about transferring to a UC, especially UC Davis. This Fall, she will be meeting with students from 9am - 3pm on:  September 9th,15th, 24th, & 28th. October 13th & 28th. Join us for this series based on the book Raising Self Reliant Children in a Self Indulgent World by H. Stephen Glenn. We will explore the three perceptions and four skills needed to develop capable young people.

1:00 PM Board of Trustees Meeting
The Butte-Glenn Community College District is governed by its seven-member, locally elected Board of Trustees and a student board member. The board is responsible for the educational, physical, and financial well-being of the district. 

The Board of Trustees holds a regular public meeting once a month during the academic year. Regular board meetings convene at 1 p.m. in the Board Room, Student Administrative Services building (SAS 360), 3536 Butte Campus Drive, Oroville, CA 95965, unless otherwise posted.

The current schedule of the Butte-Glenn Community College District regular board meetings is viewable online. Agenda’s containing a brief description of each item of business is posted at the district office and on the district’s website 72 hours before regular meetings and 24 hours before a special meeting. The current board meeting agenda and archived agendas are viewable at on our website. 

Special board meetings are scheduled as needed.
 
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) - Practical Application
Children and youth who have suffered trauma have often experienced complex developmental trauma, demonstrating an interactive set of psychological and behavioral issues. Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) is a therapeutic model that trains caregivers and staff to provide effective support and treatment for at risk children.
This 12-hour course will introduce key components of TBRI and will be followed by weekly practical applications support group which will give participants the opportunity to practice what they've learned. Participants who have attended Lilliput Services TBRI simulcast are welcome to participate in the practical applications sessions.
