9:00 AM - 10:30 AM But Will They Get Through?

FLEX #102
It’s been six years since Butte College started an accelerated English Course for students placed below transfer
while doubling the number of students with direct access to transfer level English. This presentation will address questions about how these changes to the English sequence have impacted students beyond English. Has accelerating students in English resulted in students who are less prepared for their other classes, or less sucessful in earning degrees and meeting the criteria for transferring to four year programs? This presentation answers these questions by comparing long term outcomes for students before and after the English sequence changes, including success rates in downstream courses, completion of college degrees, and rates of transfer readiness.
