Event Description: Beyond Visibility: Centering Hmong Stories & Developing Hmong Agency
Pa Vue is a Hmong-American writer, an educator, a storyteller, and a life-long learner. She was born in Thailand and came to the U.S. in 1990. The oldest of seven, she became the first person in her family to earn a college degree. Her Bachelor of Arts in English and Linguistics is from California State University, Chico. After completing a Master of Arts in Education at UC, Santa Barbara, Pa started working for the Upward Bound program, where she advised first-generation, low-income high school students for six years. She coordinated the Writing Center at Chico State for three years before following her love of language and learning back to grad school. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Education at UC, Berkeley, where she is studying literacy and language reclamation and revitalization. Get tips for grad school and follow Pa's journey on her podcast titled On Becoming Educated at www.onbecomingeducated.com. |
