Spring Break
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM Fun with PowerPoint and Meaningful Presenatations
FLEX # 754.1
PowerPoint programs are currently all the rage in education. Nevertheless, we often fall short when trying to create power points that hold the attention of the viewer. Training firefighters, construction workers and others in these dynamic days after the CAMPFIRE means we need to reach out in a meaningful way. Campfire victims have special needs. As educators we should not just meet those needs but for some individuals they may need the added stimulus of entertaining PowerPoints.
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM Hike Your Way to Better Health!
FLEX # 754.2
When people think of exercise they often think of weight loss and increased muscle mass or bone density. But did you know that regular exercise can make you feel happier, improve brain health and memory, and increase energy levels? Regular exercise can also reduce your risk of chronic disease, reduce pain, and improve relaxation and sleep. Come join Biology instructor and Friends of the Refuge advisor, Kelly Wood, on a hike out on the Butte College Wildlife Refuge. Be sure to bring water and wear sturdy shoes for a fun, healthy one-hour adventure into nature.
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Clifton Strengths for Classified
FLEX # 754.3
The CliftonStrengths assessment -- formerly Clifton StrengthsFinder -- uncovers your unique rank order of 34 CliftonStrengths themes. Your CliftonStrengths themes are your talent DNA. They explain the ways you most naturally think, feel and behave.  Our research to Learn About Science of CliftonStrengths shows that people who know and use their CliftonStrengths are: more engaged at work, more productive in their roles, happier, and healthier.  Whether you're looking to improve yourself or if you're a leader wanting to empower your people to perform better, your efforts start with CliftonStrengths.  Join Gail Stone and Penny Lillie as we learn more about our own CliftonStrengths.  RSVP Required.  Lunch will be provided for attendees.
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM Classified Professional Development Funds
FLEX # 754.4
Did you know that the Chancellors' Office has awarded CSEA funds to Butte College for professional development for classified employees and classified managers?  Join Magian Smith and Ruth Ann McKalip as they go over the details of the funding, describe the application process, and help provide you with ideas on how to get a project or activity funded (including Travel and Conference opportunities).
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Resume and Interview Best Practices
FLEX # 754.5
Are you considering applying for other positions on campus? Is your resume very outdated? Join Ruth Ann Hansen as she provides us with valuable tools and information to help polish up your resume and learn tips for doing your best during the interview process.
