Event Description:
Come to the library in celebration of the 1st amendment. Find out which of your favorite books have been challenged. Enter for a chance to win a banned book or a free KINDLE E-BOOK READER! Celebrate your right to read what you want. For more information, please contact Morgan Brynnan at 879-4024 or email brynnanmo@butte.edu.
Some faculty will be wearing toy handcuffs as a way to dramatize and invite discussion of the oppression of censorship. We plan to wear the cuffs as a conversation starter about times we have experienced censorship, been asked to ban a book, a song, a piece of art, or any other cases where we know freedom of information or a point of view has been challenged or suppressed. If you would like to join us, drop by the reference desk of the main library and pick up a pair. If you have any questions, please contact Jean Ping at the library reference desk, 879-4024.
