Research has shown that cross-lateral movements (those which cross the mid-line) can stimulate blood flow to all regions of the brain increasing alertness and cohesive learning. It can also unify the cognitive and motor regions by increasing the number of synaptic connections. Come join Biology Instructor and Friends of the Refuge Advisor, Kelly Wood, for a cross-lateral hike out on the buttes of the Wildlife Refuge. During our hikes you can stimulate your brain while sharing innovative ideas and strategies with colleagues on how to keep life successful in and out of the classroom. Hikes will be held regularly on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1:30pm. Meet at the concrete picnic bench in front of LS 108 (Life Sciences), be sure to bring sturdy shoes and water. | |
