Butte College is home to a 928 acre wildlife refuge. As a result, our campus is fortunate to have a great diversity of habitats and wildlife on our campus! The Sustainability Resource Center will be hosting one-hour guided hikes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays around our wildlife refuge. Each hike will have a theme and will be led by Geoff Hall. Entry level outdoor enthusiasts welcome! Be sure to bring your own water and appropriate shoes. 
Please meet at the Sustainability Resource Center (next to Arts) at 12:30 p.m. as hikes will depart promptly at 12:35 p.m.

In order to be considered for Cal Grant (Competitive), current college students must submit their FAFSA and GPA by September 2nd. GPAs will be automatically be sent electronically to the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) for students who have at least a 2.0 GPA and 16 cumulative degree applicable units posted on the Butte College Transcript. Student Life Involvement Fair

The Butte College Office of Student Life will host the first annual “Student Life Involvement Fair” on September 9 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the Butte College main campus in the LRC Courtyard. 

Students can expect to find tangible ways to get involved with the 5 core programs offered by the Butte College Student Life Office, which include: student government, campus events, the Sustainability Resource Center, the Culture and Community Center, and Campus Clubs. Opportunities will include volunteering on campus and the community in areas of sustainability and diversity, joining or starting student clubs, participating in campus events and activities, and much more! In addition to Student Life opportunities, students can also learn more about the Safe Place P.E.E.R.S program on campus. Peer Educators are specially trained Butte College student leaders, dedicated to educating and empowering themselves and their peers to live balanced, healthy lives. Learn how you can become involved by attending this amazing event.

Film: Buena Vista Social Club
In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month the Culture & Community Center will be showing the film, Buena Vista Social Club. In this film, aging Cuban musicians whose talents had been virtually forgotten following Castro's takeover of Cuba, are brought out of retirement by Ry Cooder, who travelled to Havana in order to bring the musicians together, resulting in triumphant performances of extraordinary music, and resurrecting the musicians' careers.

Butte College Wildlife Refuge Hikes
Butte College is home to a 928 acre wildlife refuge. As a result, our campus is fortunate to have a great diversity of habitats and wildlife on our campus! The Sustainability Resource Center will be hosting one-hour guided hikes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays around our wildlife refuge. Each hike will have a theme and will be led by Geoff Hall. Entry level outdoor enthusiasts welcome! Be sure to bring your own water and appropriate shoes. 
Please meet at the Sustainability Resource Center (next to Arts) at 12:30 p.m. as hikes will depart promptly at 12:35 p.m.

Join the Sustainability Resource Center and the Culture and Community Center as we discuss how culture and sustainability intertwine. The Connectivity Workshop: Food, Economy and Relationships will address how our conceptualization of food, economy, environment, community and culture all intersect. A deeper understanding of how these themes affect our purchasing power, food choices, access to resources and much more will create a knowledge based community. The goal is to learn, share and create action through education.
