TRANSFER DAY

SEPT. 15, 2015 MAIN CAMPUS LAWN

The Transfer Counseling Center will be hosting our annual Transfer Day event, Tuesday, Sept. 15th, on the Main Campus Lawn, from 9:00 am-1:00 pm.

We will be hosting 21 college/universities including 5  out-of-state. CSU, Chico will be bringing 12 different departments to represent their majors. Students will be able to take advantage of this one-day event to visit and talk with university representatives to discuss their major, admission requirements, cost and which colleges appeal to their individual interests.

Transfer Day is Butte’s biggest student centered activity that targets students interested in transferring to a 4-year college or university.  Students looking to transfer to a specific college or just gathering information on a perspective college can speak to a college representative to see what their school has to offer them.  We will also be providing Butte College departments that have an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) with information tables to talk to students about their programs.

Transfer Day is a FREE event and we want to ask all instructors to both announce and encourage their students to attend this event and offer extra credit to those students that do attend.  We will be busing in 200 high school students this year. Transfer Day is open to all Butte College students, faculty, staff and to the general public.

FLEX # 147.xx
Join us for a conversation with Sanjay Dev and Tom Grothe where they will discuss the wrongful conviction of Ajay Dev. A Nepali American Citizen, Ajay, and his American wife, Peggy, adopted a 16 year old teenage girl from Nepal striving to give her a better education and life while also ensuring that after she was established, she would help her biological family in Nepal and others if the opportunity arose. The problems began after she turned 18 and got her green card and escalated later when the couple and their 19 year old adopted daughter conflicted over priorities – college and career vs. boyfriends and her social life. What followed was an unjust accusation and a prison sentence of 378 years. Please join us to discuss this important injustice.
