6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Permaculture Workshop Series
This 3 part permaculture workshop series will teach ways to implement agricultural ecosystems that are sustainable and self-sufficient in your own backyard. The workshop will be led by local permaculture consultant and designer, Rosa Maicas. All workshops are free to Butte College students and staff. A minimal donation request for community members.
September 12: Urban Homesteading
Learn urban homesteading design solutions for small urban plots that will achieve maximum energy, food, and water resilience.
September 19: Drought Resilient Design
Learn to set-up water catchments, tanks, small ponds, rain gardens and grey water systems for your home and property.
September 26: Urban Farming
Transform your lawn into a drought tolerant food garden using passive water irrigation while also creating habitat for pollinators and building biology.

Got busy plans this summer? Us too! Join TMI for a day full of engaging professional development activities. We will present relevant topics on the use of Canvas with best practices and time saving techniques in mind. Whether you're new to Canvas, or a seasoned pro, we guarantee you will learn something new that will help you in promoting student success. Topics for Day 1 will include:

- Orientation
What every instructor needs to know!
- Design & Development
The basics of creating content.
- Creating/Using Video
It's a lot easier than you think!
- Grading & Outcomes (SLO's)
The nexus of any course.
- Supplemental Resources
Supported tools that work with Canvas.
- Plus development time in-between topics with TMI expertise.

No prerequisites are required, but we strongly encourage you to self-assess your basic tech skills in advance. Invite a colleague! All sessions need at least three participants to be held.

We encourage you to bring your own laptop.

All Day SUMMER 2017 LAST DAY TO DROP FOR A "W" ON TRANSCRIPTS
Last day students can drop Summer 2017 classes for a "W" to appear on transcripts with an instructor's signature certifying serious and compelling reasons for dropping courses. After 7/11/17, students must see a Counselor to petition for late withdrawal from Summer 2017 classes. Courses beginning on a day other than 6/12/17 and/or ending on a day other than 7/20/17 may have earlier or later withdrawal dates.

12:00 AM 2017-2018 Federal Work-Study
The first-day students can apply for Federal Work-Study jobs for the 2017-2018 Academic Year is July 31, 2017. Below are the steps you need to do for Federal Work-Study.
  1. Print a copy of your 2017-2018 Financial Aid Award letter from your MyBC account.
  2. Must be Enrolled in 6 units.
  3. Bring the printed award letter to the Job Placement & Cooperative Education Office (Career Center, SAS building, 2nd floor) for Job Placement to verify your eligibility and to see and apply for available positions.
  4. Follow up ASAP on work-study employment options available through the Job Placement Office.
  5. Once hired, Financial Aid will include Work-Study in your financial aid award and complete a Job Authorization Card that you can pick up at Job Placement in order to complete the hiring process.
