A.S. Fireside Debates: Priority Registration
The Butte College Speech and Debate Team and the Butte College Associated Students will host “Fireside Debates” this April in the Campus Center Lounge. The event is designed to engage students in the debate process and create awareness around civic engagement. Audience participation is encouraged and a facilitated question and answer will take place at the end of the debate. This event is free to students, faculty and staff and will include beverages and light snacks.

Meet current and future student government officers and hear what they have to say about representing students at Butte College. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask running candidates questions. The timing of this event coincides with student elections on April 29th and 30th.

A.S. Permaculture Workshop: Food Forests
The Butte College A.S. Sustainability Resource Center has invited Rosa Maicas to host a series of permaculture workshops this Spring!
Rosa Maicas is a certified permaculture designer and is the founder of the educational non-profit, Perma-fun-k. Perma-funfun-k offers hands on workshops for children and adults in California and Spain. Permaculture is an eco-design science that uses deep observation and applies methods and techniques to mimic nature's systems.

A.S. Earth Days (Multi-Day Event)

This Earth Day the A.S. Sustainability Resource Center (SRC) will be looking at campus, local and national issues.  The SRC hopes to motivate people to change personal habits, educate about issues that they may not know about and give them tangible things they can do to make change. Earth Days will be a 2 day long celebration at the Butte College Main Campus on the Fountain Lawn next to the Arts Building. Activities, live music, and healthy food will be available from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and is free for all Butte College students and staff!

The Financial Aid Office wants to help you plan ahead! As part of celebrating Earth Day, make 2014-2015 a "sustainable" year by having your financial aid questions answered. Come meet your Financial Aid Staff and receive hands-on-help with:
 
•  Hands-on help to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Bring your SSN, 2013 tax or earnings  info and W-2s, and parent (or spouse) info;
•  Get help making corrections to your FAFSA;
•  Learn how to use NSLDS  to manage your loans and total debt, and to check your Pell LEU;
•  Updating your Education Goal and Academic Program;
•  Test out our new Tutorial on using MyBC  to locate Required Documents, Financial Aid Award Letter, info on 7 Days to Pay;
•  Completing Loan Exit Counseling (required of ALL borrowers);
•  Financial Aid Process & Timeline and much, much more!

Students who plan on filing the FAFSA or making corrections, please bring 2013 W-2's and 2013 Federal Income Tax forms (1040s) or other earnings information, Social Security Number, name as it appears on the card, and date of birth. Dependent students must bring this information for parent(s) as well.   See you an April 23rd. We'll have snacks too!
