Event Description: Butte is hosting an afternoon of workshops lead by Elle Dimopoulos. Elle is the Access Technologist at College of Marin. Her current work is focused on the intersection of information science, access and emergent technology. These hands-on workshops will focus on how to build accessible classes using universal design as well as strategies for engaging students through experiential learning. Bring your course shells on a computer or other device, burning questions and an appetite for learning (breakfast and lunch provided). Workshops are in Life Science (LS) 118.
You are welcome to join us all day or for single sessions:
11 – 12: An introduction to universal design for learning and how it aligns with OER.
12 – 2: Hands-on workshop building Canvas courses, accessible documents and assignments as well as guidelines for evaluating the accessibility of online resources.
2 – 3:30: Experiential learning and technology lab or how I learned to stop worrying and use UDL.
3:30 – 4: Takeaways and Wrap-up
