A.S. Haunted House Fundraiser

On October 30th and 31st from 6-9 p.m., the Butte College Associated Students will once again transform the Butte College Chico Center Lounge into twisting hallways of haunting terror! Attendees should beware of Freddy Krueger, Jason, Michael Myers, Samara and other infamous tortured souls as these classic horror film characters return from the dead.
On Halloween night only (October 31st) from 6-9 p.m., there will also be a safe and sober Harvest Fair which will include: Psychic Readings from Moonlit Mermaid, photo booth, music & dancing, Butte College Clubs, face painting, sweets and fun!At 8 p.m. attendees can participate in a judged costume contest with a chance to win a tablet!

 This alcohol-free event is open to all community members, but the Haunted House is not recommended for children under 13 years old. The Haunted House is free to Butte College students with a valid Activity Card, and a $2 donation per person is requested from the public.

 All proceeds will be donated to Butte College Foundation Scholarships. The Butte College Foundation ensures the academic development and excellence of students through financial and other forms of support.

The Chico Center Student Lounge is located at 2320 Forest Avenue in Chico, next to Wittmeier Auto Center.

This is a Diversity Committee presentation for Native American Month. Ishi was found nearly starved in a rural area near Oroville, CA in 1911.  He is said to be the last survivor of his tribe following a program of genocide initiated by European settlers in Native American lands. The movie will be followed by a discussion focused on the changing ecology in this landscape following the loss of the native people.

The Butte College Associated Students’ Sustainability Resource Center (SRC) invites Guy McPherson, professor emeritus of Natural Resources and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Arizona, to present a controversial look climate change. The presentation will go beyond the science, and look deeper into the emotional, spiritual, and psychological human response to our climate crisis. McPherson focuses on abrupt climate change and has co-authored the book, “Extinction Dialogs: How to Live with Death in Mind”.

The Butte College Associated Students’ Sustainability Resource Center (SRC) invites Guy McPherson, professor emeritus of Natural Resources and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Arizona, to present a controversial look climate change. The presentation will go beyond the science, and look deeper into the emotional, spiritual, and psychological human response to our climate crisis. McPherson focuses on abrupt climate change and has co-authored the book, “Extinction Dialogs: How to Live with Death in Mind”.

FPM will be offering ATC Training (Post Earthquake Safety Evaluation of Buildings) training on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 9am – 4pm at the Skyway Center, Room 147. This training will cover structural basics, case studies and examples of how to evaluate building damage conditions, assess overall risk from the damage, and recommend which placards should be posted on a building.
