Past, current and future students and faculty share projects, accomplishments and thoughts about the world and the role of change agents in transforming social and economic structures.
 
How to Become a Sustainability Champion in Your Workplace - 11a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Kristen Wonder, Sustainability Coordinator at San Jose State University and PG&E Energy Champion awardee, talks about her journey to create new job positions and leading initiatives in an academic institution. Wonder is also a Butte college graduate.

The Future of Clean Energy - 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Jon Stallman, Energy Solutions Manager, Integrated Grid Planning and Grid Integration and Innovation at PG&E.  The grid has changed more rapidly in the last 10 years than it has in the last 100 years as Prosumers (producers and consumers) use more Distributed Energy Resources (DER’s).  The future 10 years will see the emergence of the Smart Grid and the Grid of Things as the integrated grid platform creates many new opportunities for energy efficiency, demand response, clean generation, energy storage, computer technologies, smart controls, and so much more - The future of energy is BRIGHT!

Mimi Riley, Butte College Faculty with Jake Pollack, Energize Colleges Program Manager at Strategic Energy Innovations will talk about how our higher education curriculum needs to adapt to prepare students for a sustainable future in all fields.

A follow-up to the original film, an Inconvenient Truth (2006), that shows just how close we are to a real energy revolution.

​Come learn ways to support and become an ally to transgender and gender nonconforming identities. Topics will include: the concepts of gender, pronouns and language, safety, and active allyship. Facilitated by Lindsay Briggs Ph.D., MPH Professor in the Department of Health & Community Services at CSU, Chico and Stonewall Alliance Representative, Conner Wenzel.

​Research has shown that cross-lateral movements (those which cross the mid-line) can stimulate blood flow to all regions of the brain increasing alertness and cohesive learning. It can also unify the cognitive and motor regions by increasing the number of synaptic connections. Come join Biology Instructor and Friends of the Refuge Advisor, Kelly Wood, for a cross-lateral hike out on the buttes of the Wildlife Refuge. During our hikes you can stimulate your brain while sharing innovative ideas and strategies with colleagues on how to keep life successful in and out of the classroom. Hikes will be held regularly on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1:30pm. Meet at the concrete picnic bench in front of LS 108 (Life Sciences), be sure to bring sturdy shoes and water.
