We’ll share a summary of new updates for Canvas and explore new ways of reaching our students with our greatest asset…you! This year’s event will also feature a panel discussion with participants who recently completed a CCC sponsored “humanizing” online instruction academy from the California Education Learning Lab. A continental breakfast and a catered lunch will be served. Three hours of flex credit is available.

For instance, students attempting to change their names to align with their identity while attending Butte may feel isolated in a traditionally designed classroom. But with a few minor changes, classrooms can be transformed into an inclusive and inviting environment. In this presentation, you will learn how information about the Chosen Name Project, Queer Resource Center, and Open Educational Resources can be included in your syllabus and course content to help students in and out of your classroom. | |

Want to learn what the Me & White Supremacy Book group is all about? It's one thing to read an announcement inviting you to consider participating in a small group that will meet weekly throughout the semester to read, journal, and discuss topics from Layla Saad's book Me & White Supremacy. It's another thing to hear directly from past participants. Zoom in to this workshop to hear a panel of people share their emotional experiences, what they learned by participating in the group, and why they feel this is critical work that every person who holds white privilege needs to do. “This book is a one-of-a-kind personal anti-racism tool structured to help people with white privilege understand and take ownership of their participation in the oppressive system of white supremacy.” from Layla Saad. Everyone who has white privilege is invited to attend, and we will share what Layla says biracial, multiracial, and People of Color with white privilege should be aware of before undertaking this particular work. | |
