Event Description: FLEX # 654
Join Dr. Rebecca Gutierrez Keeton, Associate Professor, Department of Educational Leadership, Cal State Fullerton, for a workshop on "Teaching First-Generation College Students." Dr. RGK, along with colleague Dr. Estela Zarate, developed an online institute for faculty that focuses on evidence-based teaching and interaction strategies that draw
on first-generation college students' strengths (FGCS). This work is based on Chávez and Longerbeam's (2016) cultural framework from Teaching Across Cultural Strengths. In this crash workshop, you will gain insight into what research tells us about FGCS, their strengths, and how we can best support their success as faculty. |
